Time has flown so fast over the past three weeks, and as i sat for a second yesterday and paused i realized that not only was Bea on her way to 1 month old at the end of this week, but that we had flown right on through our first holiday with her. Born just shy of three weeks before Thanksgiving, that first holiday really crept up!
So many things for us to be thankful for this year. At the top of my list was family, and a healthy baby Bea. But i'm also so thankful for my job, which i actually enjoy and also has good benefits and growth opportunities, Brandon's new job so close to home, the kids getting to enjoy the second year in a row at the same school, with good friends, our home that is our oasis in a crazy world, our friends, the kids continued improvement and growth at school, and so much more.
Thanksgiving week was a nice break for our family as well. The kids all had 10 days off for the holiday, and it gave them a lot of quality time hanging out with their new sister. Now don't get me wrong, 10 days is quite sometime and even with a a new baby there was plenty of time for the kids to get quite the bout of cabin fever, but we tried to even that out a little with a trip to the children's museum. Might as well add kids that get along (most of the time), and truly care about each other as one of those things i'm thankful for. The kids were more than happy to spend as much time with Bea as possible even if it just meant she would be sitting next to them =)
The thing is this time of year time already flies, the holidays always have a way of making the time disappear. Babies do that too, time starts to move on fast forward when their is a little one around, because they grow so fast! So putting Bea right in the middle of the holiday season is really making time move. In three short weeks she has grown so much, she has gone from swimming in her newborn clothes and fitting just right in preemie, to fitting just right in newborn, and growing out of the preemie! Her next doctors appointment is on the 10th and i imagine she will have grown quite a bit. The doctors guess was she'd hit 7lbs by then, i won't be surprised if she is bigger than that.
So now Christmas is a few short weeks away, and i'm very happy we stock piled some gifts away before the baby came. But i won't let Christmas pass us by so quickly, what an exciting time to have kids. I got three very excited kids that all get it by now (even Theens has quite a grasp on what Christmas means), and a baby who gets to do all her first Christmas stuff this year. And on top of everything i get the time to be home with my family for the holidays. I won't get an opportunity like this again, Getting the holiday's off is unheard of, but for now i'm going to enjoy it as much as i can and make as many memories as i can!
