Friday morning we went to our last doctors appointment. Because my blood pressure was getting out of hand and medication was no longer keeping it in check we were told we would be having a baby that afternoon!
Beatrix Rose was born at 5:15pm on November 8th 2019, at UChealth Highlands Ranch, CO. She weighed 5lbs 13oz at birth and measured 18 1/2 inches long. She was born at 36 weeks 2 days, and though very healthy was still only about 8 oz bigger than her brother who was born at 34 weeks.
Because she had passed 36 weeks, she wasn't admitted to the NICU in quite the same way as Donovan, so all she had to do was make it off her CPAP machine. She did this within hours and was moved into mom's room by morning where she became just like any other baby. The experience was excellent in some ways, and awful in other ways. Having Beatrix in a brand new hospital meant disorganized staff, and several medical mistakes. I'll make a blog about that later.
In the end Beatrix was discharged from the hospital just over 48 hours after birth, Sunday night around 8pm. This meant getting home before the first snow of her life =)
