Eliza Darling and Lawdwick Borden- (Aka my 5th great uncle, and Lizzie Borden's Perternal Uncle)

Back before Lizzie Borden became so famous for the double murder of her father and step mother. (She was acquitted by the way) There was another family tragedy and murder of two children, (almost three). Lizzie's uncle Lawdwick was the brother of her father Andrew. Lawdwick was married four times during his life, but back during this time it was normal seeing as so many women died in childbirth or in complications there after. His second wife Eliza Darling had three of his children. They were born quickly in succession.

While the children were young (4-6 i believe) it is said that Eliza went crazy, and through her children in the cellar cistern (well) drowning two of them. She then went back up stairs and took her husbands straight razer to her own throat and ended her life.

Though stories claim Eliza went mad, in todays world it is assumed that she could have more than likely had a very rough case of postpartum depression, after having had three small children so close to age.

Lawdwick, Eliza and their children, Holden who was an infant, Eliza who was two years old, and

Maria (Maria being the only child as well as the oldest at 4 years old to survive) lived literally in the house down the street from the famous LIzzie Boreden and her father, these children's uncle and cousin.

Even though the lived down the street, it has been rumored over the years that these children haunt the upstairs attick space of the Lizzie Borden home. The story has changed slightly over the years, some speculate the children may have stayed in the Borden home, or been killed there and moved back to their own home. But quite honestly i think this is just two tragedys in one family being combined over years. However if you stay in the Lizzie Borden house, which you can, it is now a bed and breakfast and people who visit claim it is haunted. People still leave dolls and small toys in the attack for the murdered Borden Children.

There seem to be many different unfortunate tales of the Boreden's and their relatives.
